NBC Schedules 3 Hours of Comedy for Thursdays

NBC has recently announced that come January 2011, it will schedule a third our of sitcoms for Thursday nights. I for one am excited for this.

I have always championed the addition of more sitcoms on TV. The more, the better. Now, NBC will deliver us even more.

The new schedule will keep COMMUNITY on at 8:00pm, but will now be followed by the new comedy PERFECT COUPLES at 8:30pm. THE OFFICE will continue to anchor the 9:00pm slot, but will lead in for the returning PARKS AND RECREATION at 9:30pm. The 10:00pm hour will feature 30 ROCK at the top of the hour, with OUTSOURCED at the bottom of the hour.

Even though I am not a fan of 30 Rock, this is a good move for both NBC. The 10pm Comedies will easily increase the ratings that THE APPRENTICE delivered and could inject new life in to 30 ROCK with sampling by new viewers.

The only thing I would have done different is flop 30 ROCK with COMMUNITY. 30 ROCK is on the back end of its run and could have helped increase the 8:00pm hour that Community has not been able to accomplish. COMMUNITY could have benefited with new viewers coming in at 10:00pm and it needs success now for a longer run for syndication.

Its has been a while since I have complimented NBC, but they do deserve a pat on the back for this good move.
