Cable TV Ratings for Week Ending April 4, 2010

Instead of my usual recapping of the past week's ratings, I really have to comment on the poor rating of HBO and Showtime.

These are supposed to be premium channels, most would expect premium programming from them. All but one series failed to draw a million and two couldn't even draw 200K.

True, these networks don't need ratings, they just need to keep their subscribers. But in this changing world of media, a channel like HBO or Showtime is becoming less and less relevant. On Demand, Online streaming and Netflix, seeing a movie a year after it hit the theaters is ho-hum.

HBO and SHOWTIME had better find programs that people want to watch or the viewers will start dropping them from their cable. besides, Netfix is a lot cheaper and has almost the same library of movies available, all the time.

  1. HBO always represented best entertaining things with it. All the programs shown by it are memorable to me and us . I always wish HBO to do best.
