More Battle Star Galactica Spin-offs?

The SyFy network is looking to grow its "Battlestar" empire with a possible new spin-off in the works.

Battlestar Galactica signed off in early April, 2009. The Caprica project had bee in works months before the last season of BSG and finally premiered this past January. Ratings for Caprica have been decent, especially in the Live+7 numbers. Caprica is getting about 1.6 million viewers over the course of a week with about half of those being in the 18-49 demographic.

A second spin off from Battlestar Galactica has been described as not being a "traditional series", but would returned to the "Space-Opera" roots that was the core of BSG.

Personally, I am on the fence with the direction Caprica has taken. It has a great concept for the franchise. The creation and evolution of the Cylon race. The product on screen has been less than entertaining. it plays more like "The Young and the Restless" then it does Battlestar Galactica. A new spin-off that recaptures what BSG had would be very welcomed from the fans.
