1956 - Elvis Presley appeared on Steve Allen's TV show. He sang the song "Hound Dog" to an actual basset hound.

1970 - NBC aired the "Liza Minnelli Special."

The Liza Minnelli Special was 'Liza with a Z', which has recently been restored and put out on a DVD.

I still remember watching it broadcast live on NBC...a truly momentus event in the history of television.
