CBS picks up five pilots

CBS did some serious pilot shopping late last week, green-lighting five pilots -- dramas "Miami Trauma," "Three Rivers" and "The Good Wife" and comedies "Accidentally on Purpose" and "Waiting to Die."

"Three Rivers" and the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced "Miami Trauma" are part of the network's concerted effort to find a medical drama for fall.

Set in the Florida city, "Miami Trauma" focuses on a team of trauma surgeons who race against the clock to save critically injured patients. Jeffrey Lieber ("Family Practice") wrote the script.
The pilot marks the second Bruckheimer/CBS project set in Miami, after "CSI: Miami."

Bruckheimer is CBS' top programing supplier, with seven series: reality competition "The Amazing Race"; crime procedurals "Cold Case," "Without a Trace," "CSI" and its two spin-offs; and science/medical mystery freshman "Eleventh Hour."

"Three Rivers" explores the subject of organ transplants, with each story told from the point of view of the doctor, the recipient and the donor. Carol Barbee ("Jericho") penned the pilot.

"The Good Wife" is a female-driven law show about a politician's wife who returns to her career as a defense attorney. Robert King and Michelle King ("In Justice") are the writers.

"Accidentally" is based on the memoir "Accidentally on Purpose" by Mary F. Pols, a San Francisco movie critic who found herself pregnant after a fling with a much younger man. Claudia Lonow wrote the script.

Buddy comedy "Waiting to Die" centers on two simple guys who are happy with their lives -- no matter how bad it might look from the outside. The project was written by "Mad TV" alum Will Sasso and Chad Kultgen.
