US Box Office Results: June 21 - 23, 2019

TOY STORY 4 was the #1 movie for the weekend, posting the best opening of the franchise. The $118 million is $8 million more than TS3, nine years ago, but unless it has long legs, TS4 will fall short of the $415 million domestic take the third film of the franchise grossed.

Also new this weekend was the reboot of CHILD'S PLAY, ranking a very distant second place, with a $14 million gross. it is the top grossing opening of the theatrical franchise, but just $4 million more than film #2, 29 years ago. But, the movie has already passed its $10 million production budget, pretty much ensuring a profit and another movie to follow.

Speaking of reboots, ALADDIN adds another #12 million to its take, good enough for #3 on the weekend, bad is now just $13 million short of the $300 million mark.
