Preliminary Ratings: Wednesday 04/18/2018

CBS and NBC tie for first place in the Wednesday night ratings, as both networks post the same ratings in the three demographic categories. The only thing that separates them is just 100,000 in total viewership. CBS tops NBC the 8 PM hour, with SURVIVOR second on the hour and THE VOICE 3rd. LAW & ORDER: SVU and CHICAGO FIRE win the last two hours for NBC.

FOX had the top demographic program of the night, as EMPIRE edges SURVIVOR in the A18-49 demo and dominates the younger, A18-34 demo. STAR falls to second place, in the 9 PM hour, behind LAW & ORDER: SVU.

ABC had three of its five series in encores, pushing it down to fourth on the night. In original episode, ALEX INC. and DESIGNATED SURVIVOR finish fourth and last, in their respective time slots.

For the CW, the season premiere of THE ORIGINALS greatly improved the 9 PM slot, holding its RIVERDALE lead in.
