Preliminary Ratings: Wednesday 02/08/2017
It was a night of fragmented leadership, on Wednesday night as three of the four major networks a a slice of leadership on the night. CBS was the most watched network. FOX drew more adults 18-34 and BC was better in the A18-49 and A25-54 demographics. NBC was not far off, usually in second place in each of the categories.
The special 400th episode of LAW & ORDER: SVU helped elevate NBC on the night, drawing 6.8 million viewers and a 1.6 rating in Adults 18-49. That is about 14% better than the series last original airing, back on Jan 18th. The long running series topped CRIMINAL MINDS for second place in the time slot, helping it post the lowest numbers of its season. BLIND SPOT was fourth in its hout and CHICAGO PD won the 10 PM slot.
ABC had a good night, winning in the two older demographics. the four sitcoms won the first two hours for the network and were enough to counter act the much lower ratings generated by MATCH GAME, at 10 PM.
FOX topped CBS for the third place showing, even when factoring out the weak CODE BLACK on CBS. FOX was #2 in the 8 PM hour and third in the 9 PM hour.
CBS was in the unusual position of 4th place on a Wednesday night. Weak numbers from both HUNTED and CRIMINAL MINDS did not help raise the average with an even weaker CODE BLACK. CODE BLACK tied BLINDSPOT for the lowest demo ratings, among the BIG 4 networks.
