Ratings Review: THE AMAZING RACE (Fall 2014)

With the move to Friday nights, it may be the beginning of the end for THE AMAZING RACE. the multi-emmy winning competition series may have the love of Academy voters, but viewers just are not sticking with the show.

The numbers show that the series was the weak point on the CBS Friday night schedule, and would usually lose to both ABC and NBC in the 8 p.m. hour. Looking year-to-year, in the time slot, TAR pulled about 25% less in the A18-49 ratings, than did UNDERCOVER BOSS, and the total viewership was down nearly 2-3 million.

The Live+7 ratings barely make up the ground lost by it replacing UNDERCOVER BOSS, in the fall. But, the one nice thing about THE AMAZING RACE moving to Fridays is that it does give CBS a nice schedule, through the whole season, for the 8 p.m. slot. No more failures when UB ends its run in the early spring.

For the season, THE AMAZING RACE averaged 5.97 million viewers and a 1.2 rating in Adults 18-49.
