Ratings Review: AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. (Season Two - Fall 2014)

AGENTS OF SHIELD may be the one Marvel property that can not be considered a "success." What started as a hot, freshman series, in 2013, is now a struggling show for ABC.

The series continues to disappoint, as it is regularly third in the ratings, behind both THE VOICE/Comedies and NCIS: NEW ORLEANS. Once THE FLASH showed up on the night, SHIELD struggled to even beat the DC comics superhero series.

A good chunk of the audience does come after the initial airing of the episodes, getting another three million viewers and about another 45% in the demo ratings. But, it was those L+7 numbers there series was getting last season, with even more being pulled in with the DVR ratings.

For the fall half of the season, AGENTS OF SHIELD averaged 4.86 million viewers and a 1.7 rating in Adults 18-49. There is in no threat of being canceled, as ABC has bigger issues to deal with, but the longevity of the series has to be in question, unless a major correction is made, in the near future.
