Ratings Review: THE STRAIN (Season One)

It is not the series that SONS OF ANARCHY or AMERICAN HORROR STORY have become, but THE STRAIN is one of the better performing new series coming form FX.

The series kicked off to a strong start, getting three million viewers and a 1.2 rating in Adults 18-49, but the series quickly settled into its normal range of low to mid two million viewers and a a solid one rating in the demo. Compared to most of the new series coming from FX, THE STRAIN is a solid hit.

With FX going to the Live+3 day ratings reporting, or lack of reporting, THE STRAIN does look to be a solid performer time shifted ratings. 4.7 million viewers watched the series premiere, within the first three days. Even with a similar downturn of live viewers, the series should still be pulling around four million viewers each week.

For the 13 episode season, THE STRAIN averaged2.21 million viewers and a 1.0 rating in Adults 18-49. The series will return in 2015 with 13 more episodes. Production of the second season begins later this fall.
