Ratings Review: PARKS AND RECREATION (Season )
To me, PARKS AND REC is the epitome series of NBC of the past decade. Low rated, cult favorite series that continue to get horrible ratings and get renewed for the sake of syndication. So, as 30 ROCK and THE OFFICE goes, so will PARKS AND REC.
Not once did PARKS AND REC grab an audience of more than 3.5 million viewers, nor an A18-49 rating above a 1.3. nine times did the series draw under three million viewers, for a new episode. If this was the CW, it would be a decent series, but still not great. And, NBC knows this is a bad sitcom as it doubled up the series four times, to push the end of the season sooner, than later.
The LIVE+7 DVR ratings are mixed. Most of the time, the numbers were to low to be reported by most outlets, including NBC press released. A normal rise of six to seven tenths of a ratings point is common for the series. PARKS AND REC is lucky if it can get more than a million more viewers to watch within the 7 day period of reporting.
For the season, PARKS AND RECREATION averaged 2.89 million viewers and a 1.1 rating in Adults 18-49, for 19 airings that included four one hour blocks and a single repeat episode. Currently, PARKS AND REC is not on the NBC fall schedule and will be a mid-season replacement, with just 13 episodes. Personally, that is 13 episodes too many.
