Ratings Review: COSMOS (Season One)

It was refreshing to see FOX bring this tyoe of programming to the masses. Nearly 35 years after the original series aired on PBS, there was still interest in programming that was not only entertaining, but thought provoking and educational.

COSMOS pulled in ratings comparable to the animated comedies of the night, perhaps more on the AMERICAN DAD side of the numbers, than FAMILY GUY's. It would compete with CBS for the #2 spot in the 9 p.m. time slot, for the A18-49 ratings.

Early LIVE+7 ratings indicated there was a good amount of viewers watching the show after the initial air, but by the fourth episode, those numbers were to low to make any of the published charts.

For the run of the series, COSMOS averaged 3.93 million viewers and a 1.5 rating in Adults 18-49, for the 13 episodes. It would be great to see if FOX could find a way to have a regular series that would focus on science each season. Perhaps the Human Body for Spring of 2015? The deep seas for 2016?
