Ratings Review: AMERICAN IDOL (2014)

The writing was on the wall as the ratings dove further south for the once mega-hit AMERICAN IDOL. But, in the end, AMERICAN IDOL dod manage to get another season from FOX.

The season looked so promising, 12-15 million viewers and a strong 3.5 to 4.0 ratings in Adults 18-49. But after that initial start, the ratings began a trek downward that really never stopped. From it;s high of 15.2 milion viewers and a 4.7 demo rating, to it's low of seven million viewers and a 1.5 demo rating, the show had lost half of it's audience and over two thirds of it's A18-49 audience. At this point, I do not think that anything can save IDOL. it is just a matter of time before it is cancelled.

For the season, AMERICAN IDOL averaged 9.79 million viewers and a 2.5 rating in Adults 18-49, for 39 separate episodes, of various lengths. The series will be back next season, but will there be any changes to the format in an attempt to get viewers back to the show?
