Ratings Review: SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL 2012
Once again, SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL had a very good year and will be TV's #1 program for the 2012-13 season.
The ups and downs of the ratings is a direct result of the teams that play each individual week. Sometimes, the advanced schedule anticipates a certain team, or two, do be better than what really happens over the course of the season. Although, it may not be a coincidence that the two lowest rated games are intra-division games from the AFC North.
For the first time since it was introduced, NBC received the prime time Thanksgiving game, that used to be on THE NFL NETWORK. Ratings soared from when the game was on cable. Hopefully, the game will remain on broadcast TV.
The regular season finale on December 30th, 2012 was the most watched SNF game ever for NBC, with over 30 million viewers and a 10.5 rating in Adults 18-49.
Sunday Night Football averaged 21.4 million viewers for the 2012 season, less than one percent below last year's season average of 21.5 million. The final average household rating of 12.8/20 (19 games) is just one-tenth off of last year's 12.9/20.Additionally, SNF was the No. 1 program across the key demographics of Adults 18-49, 18-34, 25-54 as well as Men 18-49, 18-34 and 25-54.
