Preliminary Ratings: Thursday 12/21/2017

CBS swept the Thursday night ratings, as the four remaining series aired their finale new episodes of 2017. YOUNG SHELDON was the night's #1 program, attracting 11.2 million viewers and a 1.7 rating in Adults 18-49. It GREW out of its BBT encore lead in by over 30% in the A18-49 demographic and 19% in total viewers. The other three shows saw some sort of increase, week-to-week.

ABC's combo of A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS and a CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS helped it edge out NBC for second place. The PEANUTS special tied for #2 on the night in the A18-49 ratings and was second in the 8 PM hour. The CMA holiday special ranked third in its 9 to 11 time slot.

NBC did decent numbers with the SNL Christmas Special, but the two new episodes of GREAT NEWS tanked without any type of lead in support.the two episodes were the lowest rated originals on the night.

FOX and the CW did minimal numbers with a full night of encores.
