Preliminary Ratings: Wednesday, 05/24/2017

CBS takes the final day of the May sweeps period, posting the top numbers in three of the four reported categories, with FOX tying in the A18-49 demo and taking the A18-34 demo. For CBS, it was an all-SURVIVOR night, with the two hour finale and the reunions show. The finale was the most watched program of the night, with 8.5 million viewers and was second, behind EMPIRE, in the three demographic ratings. Both the finale and the reunion show were down, from last spring's final night, by roughly 10%.

EMPIRE posted its best numbers since this past March, getting 6.9 million viewers and a 2.4 rating in Adults 18-49. But as well as the second year drama did, The SHOTS FIRED finale drug the numbers down. The now-cancelled drama only drew half the audience than EMPIRE did, at 9 PM.

ABC's remake of the 80's movie, DIRTY DANCING did decent numbers, placing the network in third for the night.

NBC was a close fourth place, with the two hour finale of LAW & ORDER: SVU. The long running crime drama was down from last spring's finale, by about 15%.
