US Box Office Results: March 24 - 26, 2017

BEAUTY & THE BEAST held off three new releases, to continue as the #1 movie in America. The live action remake added another $88 million to its 10-day total of just under $317 million, making it the current #1 movie of the year.

Speaking of remakes, the new POWER RANGERS movie had a good weekend, grossing $40.5 million in its first three days, ranking its 2nd on the chart. That is less then half than what B&B grossed over the weekend.

The science fiction movie, LIFE came in with a bit of a disappointing opening weekend, hauling in $12.6 million. The movie has had heavy promotion leading up to its release and will fall short of its $58 million production budget.

Premiering in the #7 spot, and coming in DOA, is the theatrical adaptation of the 70's TV series, CHiPs. The movie collected just $7.6 million in its opening weekend, putting it on pace for a total domestic gross of under $25 million. That is equal to the production budget of the movie.
