Primetime Cable Ratings: April 12, 2015

The GAME OF THRONES season five premiere did post a series best rating, with eight million viewers and a 4.2 rating in Adults 18-49. It was about 900,000 viewers more and 10% higher in the demo, than last season's finale. But, you have to wonder how many MORE viewers watched the premiere, while streaming the show? HBO NOW was made available to the public about a week before the premiere, including Sling TV subscribers.

HBO also had to other big premieres in SILICON VALLEY and VEEP. Like THRONES, SILICON VALLEY posted a series best with Sunday's season premiere, collecting 2.1 million viewers and the second best A18-49 rating of the night, a 1.3. VEEP, however, continues to be shunned by viewers. Just a little over one million viewers watched the 10:30 p.m. season premiere. It didn't come close to its series best, but was one of the more watched episode of the last few seasons.

It was an overall good night for cable originals, posting nine of the top 15 shows. SUNDAY NIGHT BASEBALL, on ESPN was the #4 show of the night. MAD MEN was seventh, with under two million viewers. Even HGTV was in the mix with LAKEFRONT BARGAIN HUNT, in the #15 spot.
