Primetime Cable Ratings: August 12, 2014

It was basically a four network race in the Tuesday cable ratings. TNT, TBS, DISCOVERY and FOX NEWS all placed multiple programs into the cable top 10 chart. TNT had the #1 and #3 programs, with solid performances from thew Tuesday night crime dramas. RIZZOLI & ISLES brought in 5.7 million viewers, 600k more than last week.

Night three of SHARK WEEK placed two shows on the chart. Between 9 and 11 p.m., Discovery averaged near three million viewers and a 1.4 rating in Adults 18-49. Both shark themed specials were the top two cable programs, in the A18-49 ratings.

With the situation in Missouri, FOX news got a bump in the ratings, as both THE O'REILLY FACTOR and THE KELLY FILE averaged about 2.6 million viewers, the first two hours of primetime. CNN's nor MSNBC's ratings didn't even register on the top 100.

And, as usual, TBS had a good night with THE BIG BANG THEORY reruns. The three episodes, running from 8:30 to 10 p.m., averaged about 2.6 million viewers and a 1.1 demo rating
