TV News Roundup: July 18, 2014


  • The CW renews one series
  • TNT renews three series
  • CBS may factor in FOX/TimeWarner deal.
CW Renews WHOSE LINE:
The CW has given WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY? a fourth season order. The order will be for 24 new half hour episodes, starting in 2015. WHOSE LINE has been the best performing program for the CW, this summer, in both original episodes and repeats.



TNT renews three series:
Freshman hit THE LAST SHIP, veteran crime series MAJOR CRIMES and sci-fi hit FALLING SKIES have been renewed for 2015. Each series will get 13, 15 and 10 episodes, respectively. For FALLING SKIES it will be the fifth and final season for the series.



CBS interested in CNN:
If the FOX purchase of TimeWarner were to every go through, CNN would be on the auction block. CBS' CEO Les Moonves has stated that he would be very interested in buying CNN if it became available. Monvess also stated that a possible merger of CBS and TimeWarner would not be considered by CBS. Some financial experts believe TimeWarner could buy CBS in order to make itself too big for FOX to purchase.
