Preliminary Ratings: Wednesday 04/16/14

It was a mostly repeat filled night by the broadcast networks as 58% of the combined schedules featured encore episodes. Only FOX and The CW, with just two hours each, featured repeat free nights. FOX took full advantage of the weaker competition as it won the night in both total viewers and young adults.

AMERICAN IDOL drew 8.4 million viewers and a 1.9 rating in Adults 18-49. Down slightly from a week earlier. It did lose to SURVIVOR, during the 8 p.m. hour, as it was the most watched program of the night. Since it's season premiere, three months earlier, the Wednesday edition of AMERICAN IDOL has dropped roughly 5 million viewers and more than half of it's A18-49 demographic. Is AMERICAN IDOL ready to end, or can it be salvaged?

The CW had a relatively good night as both programs drew over two million viewers. THE 100 is proving it is worthy of a second season, with a jump of 18% in viewers, over last week. An 83% retention rate from it's lead in is also a strong showing for the freshman drama.
