Like every July, broadcast TV is all about reruns. 1991 was no different. The usual ratings winners during the regular season were also performing well during the summer. Cheers, Murphy Brown, Roseanne, Empty Nest, 20/20. A few original programing did do well in the ratings.The MLB All-Star game topped the ratings chart on July 9th with over 24 million viewers.
Stephen King's GOLDEN YEARS drew 18 million viewers (#6 for the week) in the middle of the summer.
